Suspension of disbelief. That`s why people can believe dogs and cats can talk and lobsters can play cards. And be really good at it.
It`s why shows like 24 work: An organization that`s supposed to be sorta like the DoD, FBI and CIA all put together, an organization that can “retask” satellites in a few minutes, invent all sorts of networking parlance to make their computers work and disrespect the sovereignty of other countries? We don`t care…Give us more Jack Bauer.
I fear they`re trying to go too far with CTU, though. What`s all this “The Rookie” crap? Who cares? CTU goes far beyond a sustainable suspension of disbelief, and it only succeeds because we want our Jack Bauer fix. No Jack, no way. Do they honestly think they can spin this off, create a huge franchise? Who is willing to go along with this?
I mean, you know, because lobsters that can do corporate accounting…
