I don’t think my inking has caught up to my penciling, which makes sense: over the past month when I haven’t been updating regularly, I’ve done a lot of pencil sketching and little inking. That’s going to change, as I plan on getting out the watercolors and markers as I establish a regular posting schedule. First things first, though, so the comic must consistently go up twice a week. Then, it’s more finished products done for fun.

368: Coffee, Tea or Mayhem?
by LouM on October 25, 2010 at 12:01 amI know the book came out well after the movie, which came out well after the time it was supposed to have taken place. Still, I couldn’t pass up the title.
I really like this one. I don’t necessarily think it’s my best work yet, but it has a wide variety of things going on. Primarily, by looking through the Lobster’s eyes the perspective was very different than normal. I like the idea that we are seeing things through his perspective while he is under suggestion. Readers kept him in the comic, so it is only fitting that we see through his eyes when we command him to do our bidding: comic entertainment.
Also, clearly the Lobster has corrected vision. 20/20. How convenient.
367: Major Cassandra
by LouM on October 21, 2010 at 12:01 amAhh, Cassandra: given the gift of prophecy coupled with the disbelief of all who hear it. I had more to say at one point, but it’s slipped my mind.
In case you’re wondering, yes, that’s the female main character in the chair. You may not recognize her with the short hair. It’s a choice I made to fit the style of the movie. I also had given her earrings in the pencils, but they didn’t make it through to inks or color. I’m just forgetful at times.
I’m not too happy with how this one turned out, but I stuck with it and pushed it out anyway. It’s been a month since my last update, and I just couldn’t wait any longer. My tools showed their lack of use through obstinacy, and though I’ve been drawing I haven’t been practicing my characters and everyone’s kinda off-model. You know, off enough that they just don’t look right, but not too off to look ridiculous. That “uncanny valley” discrepancy that makes them look alien to me.
All things considered, though, I’m glad I made myself power through and put up what I had. This comic is, after all, a big canvas. It was always intended for practice. An update, even a poor one, is better than none at all.
